Shirinisara’s journey began in the Yousefabad neighborhood of Tehran, Iran, where Vida Malek built a beloved bakery known for its quality, craftsmanship, and tradition. Following the 1979 Revolution, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada, bringing her passion for baking with her. In 1991, she opened Shirinisara’s first Toronto location in Willowdale, joined by her husband, Nader Malek, an academic in Iran, who became both her life and business partner.
The bakery later relocated to the Leslie and York Mills area, where it continued to grow as a cherished part of the community. As one of Toronto’s first Iranian bakeries, Shirinisara quickly became known for its fresh, daily-made cakes, pastries, and cookies, earning a lasting reputation for quality and authenticity.
In 2015, the Roozbeh-Hakkak family proudly took ownership of Shirinisara Pastry House, continuing its legacy while thoughtfully evolving the brand. As a family-owned business, they remain committed to preserving the bakery’s traditions while embracing new ideas and growth.
